TOPICS TO BE COVERED:
The purpose of this course is to give the participant tools to use in the ethical reasoning process. The instructional style used in the delivery of this course includes lecture, discussion, and case studies. The topics covered will include a review of the foundation of personal ethics, a discussion centered on theories, a review of governing codes of conduct, and a practical application period using cases. The course will satisfy the Texas State Board of Public Accountancy ethics requirement and is designed for individuals in public practice, industry, and education.
The course will be taught by Dr. Willie Cargill. Dr. Cargill received his BBA in accounting, MBA in banking and finance, and the Ph.D. in accounting from the University of Missouri-Columbia. He held various accounting and operations positions in industry for fifteen years before entering teaching. His teaching career spans thirty years with the last nineteen years at Texas A&M International University where he has served as Department Chair, Director of Distance Education, and faculty member. His university teaching duties have included courses in ethics, auditing and taxation.
